Preliminary engineering is underway to create 150 miles of water recreation along the region’s creeks and rivers – everything from tubing, hiking, paddling, boating and fishing throughout more than a dozen central Iowa communities.

Rick Tollaskson, chair of the Water Trails Steering Committee, said, “2018 will be a big year because that’s when we kick it off.”

Downtown Des Moines will have whitewater rafting, zip lines and a skate park, all of which is being called an “Adventure Park.”
