Couple make generous donation to proposed skateboard park

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCCI) — A $1 million donation will give a huge boost to the construction of a regional skate park in Des Moines.

The $3.5 million facility, which was announced during a special ceremony Wednesday, will be named the Lauridsen Skate Park after the couple who made the generous donation. It is planned to be plotted on a sliver of 6 acres of land between Wells Fargo Arena and the Des Moines River.

“A world-class skate park is coming to Des Moines,” said Brad Anderson, co-chair of the Des Moines Regional Skate Park Committee.
